Marguerite Design 2639

This 92' classic ketch was built by the Vitters Shipyard of the Netherlands in 1999. She is constructed of aluminum with an aluminum superstructure. Her masts are of carbon fiber.
Her exquisite interior was designed by Redmond, Whiteley, Dixon and is a combination of high gloss walnut and painted surfaces. The arrangement includes three spacious guest staterooms plus crew accommodations for two. The master stateroom has direct access to a private owner's cockpit.

Here are some images of her interior.

Design 2279 Agena

This certainly looks like a rule beater to me. I haven't come across any design like it in the files. She has a daggerboard that is deployed through a lead keel "shoe". The objective was to have her rate as a centerboarder under I.O.R., which was successfully done and for this she received a favorable rating. Looking at this daggerboard "schematic" there is an end-plate at the bottom of the board which is also made of lead (500 lbs).

We don't know a lot about this boat. I can see from looking at the sail plan that there is a Concordia emblem at each end of the cove stripe (star + moon). The files say she was built by Concordia and Afterguard. Could Afterguard mean the owner and his crew finished the boat? She is built of fiberglass and was launched in 1979.
Here are the plans.

Preliminary Design Ericson 39

Here's a preliminary design we prepared for Ericson Yachts of California after production ceased and when there was an investor wishing to reinvent the line. Unfortunately the project never got off the ground. I still felt it was a nice design. The year was 1991. No design number was ever assigned.

Design 90 76 6 Shoal Draft Schooner

Only two drawings were prepared for this preliminary design proposal; a Lines Plan and a Sail & Deck Plan. I believe the Lines Plan that is shown here is the only one of the two that has survived. That's a shame as it would have been interesting to see her rig.
I always try to do an Internet search for the old customers to see if it might have been someone famous. The plan list gives the name William McCoy. I was more than amused to find that William McCoy was a rum-runner during prohibition and that he ran five different schooners between Bimini and Long Island. Could it be that the firm designed one of them? Probably not since prohibition ended in 1933 in the United States and this design was produced in 1935. Perhaps he just wanted to spend some of his profits on a fancy new boat. Click here to read about him.

Even More Design 2758 25 Center Console

Okay by now you are all saying "enough already about this boat!" She's done and being shipped in a week. Checks and title changed hands today. It was so calm on the water we could have gone water skiing (if the water temp wasn't 48 that is).

We managed to convince the owner of 2 things: we will be showing her in Greenwich, Connecticut at a small boat show that is held in September (more info to follow) and that I can borrow her from time to time. That's the good news.

For more information about this design simply do a search for 25' center console (upper left search field).

Design 323 Hydrolite Dinghy

Details are sketchy at best for this design. Here's what we think we know. George Barnes of the Skaneatales Boatworks of Skaneateles, New York, invented a glue for cold molded boat construction. We were hired to design the dinghy you see here, named the Hydrolite. Eight Hydrolites were built using an autoclave. The boats were built of mahogany. The year was 1940.
The glue that he invented was later sold to the US Navy to build PT Boats.

Here are the plans we pulled off our microfiche files. Note the gear associated with the rig, centerboard and tiller was completely omitted in the images you see here.

I include the lines as they are interesting. Comparing them to the images however, the beautiful curvature at the transom was eliminated.

Design 1674 Toc Toc

This design was one of Rod Stephens' "pet" projects: he loved this boat. The original "one-off" was built of steel at the L. Moerman shipyard of Brielle, Holland and launched in 1964. She is a very big volume boat that affords a huge amount of interior accommodations. The after cabin provides a lot of privacy as it is separated from the main cabin by the cockpit and engine room.
Here is the general arrangement plan.

The boat was eventually developed into a production fiberglass boat that was built and marketed by Marlow Yachts of Deer Park, New York and called the Marlow 48. This was around 1970. From there the molds were purchased by Bennett Brothers Yachts of Wilmington, North Carolina. The model was renamed the Sunward 48.
Here's the sail plan.
